Best Time for your Email Campaign

Best Time to Post: Email Campaign Edition

Want to get more out of your next email campaign? Send it out at these times.

It’s not uncommon for businesses to send out an email campaign that gets a small average open rate. In fact, according to MailChimp report, companies of 50 people or fewer, see fewer than one in every four emails they send get opened. What’s more, the average click rate is less than 3 percent! Even so, email is a free way to get people’s attention, and those 3 out of 100 opens are 3 people that could turn into clients!

If you’re not quite satisfied with seeing your emails go unopened, know that your problem could be your timing. Get more out of your mass emails to clients by following this schedule from Kissmetrics’ recent study of email marketing timing.

6:00 to 10:00 a.m. These four hours mark when people are most likely to open consumer-based marketing emails. If you want to hit them with a great consumer focused piece, aim to drop it in people’s inbox when the sleep is still in their eyes.

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. People are working. Don’t send an email during these hours or it will end up at the bottom of inboxes, or in the trash.

12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Take advantage of the usual lunch break hours to hit people with relevant news and lifestyle emails.

2:00 to 3:00 p.m. That afternoon grind will leave your email completely ignored.

3:00 to 5:00 p.m. If your email is financially pertinent, send it now.

5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Want to communicate with other businesses? B2B promotions are best sent during this window.

7:00 to 10:00 p.m. As people settle into their evenings, they start to look for exciting info. Send out your promos now!

10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Don’t bother. This is a dead time, and very few emails get opened during these hours.

Our Best Blog Tips: Write Like You Talk

Why writing like you talk is one of the best blog tips ever.

When’s the last time you read a full blog post?

If it’s been a while, you’re not alone. More and more of us prefer snippets over long format posts that (if we can be honest with you) can basically say the same thing.

Does that mean the blog is dead? No! In fact, blogging is one of the best ways to build your website’s authority, keep it relevant over time, and boost your search engine ranking. It gives everyone—from prospects to potential future members of your team—the chance to see what you know and what you’re all about.

The issue, then, is how to get those future clients and employees to actually sit down with your blog. The good news? We’ve got a solution for you, and it’s a pretty easy and very effective one: blog like you talk.

Here are just a few reasons taking a more conversation, casual tone when writing is one of the best blog tips in your arsenal.

  • You’ll be more relatable. We like to feel comfortable. Ergo, utilizing verbiage to which your anticipated audience is likely unaccustomed can create a chasm between you. (See what we mean?) If you want people to plug in and stay tuned, approach them like you would a friend.
  • You’ll be seen as a bigger help. Sure, you want to be seen as the authority in your industry. If you can’t convey your insider insight in layman’s terms, though, it’s not going to be very much help to your clients. They want to know you can meet them where they’re at and help them there, and a conversational tone can convey that you’ll do just that.
  • You’ll help your SEO. If you’re looking for search engine optimization (SEO) so you’ll get listed higher on Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc., SEO’s your best friend. Search engine crawlers, which determine how high you should rank, measure your page according to the Flesch-Kincaid readability tests. A better score = a better ranking. In other words, you want an 11-year-old (or Googlebot) to be able to understand your site.
